Stoughton Trailers breaks ground on national corporate headquarters

STOUGHTON (WKOW) -- Stoughton Trailers, LLC, a global leader in transportation equipment, broke ground Thursday at their national headquarters site in Stoughton.
The state-of-the-art office building is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
Stoughton Trailers is the nation’s fourth largest manufacturer of semitrailers.
“Today is a momentous day for Stoughton Trailers. We have envisioned this day for a long time, and it has come to fruition. So many people have helped make this a reality. Thank you to our employees, the City of Stoughton, the Stoughton community, and our business partners, all who helped make this possible,” said Stoughton Trailers President & CEO Bob Wahlin in a statement.
The new corporate headquarters will be located on the corner of Highway 51 and County Road B, in the far northwest corner of Stoughton. It will be the home of about 200 employees.
The manufacturing of all products will remain at the current locations.
The 53,000-square-foot facility will include a workout gym, exercise studio, locker rooms, collaborative workspaces and a host of other amenities, according to a press release.
“I am certain our employees look forward to the day they can look directly out over the many ponds, walking paths, bike trails, and green space to be developed on this site.” added Wahlin. The 182-acre property will include approximately 36 acres of ponds, prairie, and wetlands as well as additional 28-acre community park.
Stoughton Trailers is a family-owned, Wisconsin-based company which began operations in Stoughton in 1961. The company will retain its existing manufacturing facilities in Stoughton, Brodhead, Evansville, and Waco, Texas. Stoughton Trailers was recently recognized as the 10th largest employer in Dane County.
Since 1966, Stoughton Trailers administrative employees have been working from the company’s home office building at 416 S. Academy Street, which is also home to the company’s engineering, research & design group, and testing facility.
